Barranco Mi Amor | A Tribute to Home, Captured by Kevin Roman
The shoot takes place in Barranco, Lima’s artistic and cultural heart, where Studio Afuera co-founder Mariella Ruiz de Somocurcio grew up. Featuring model Jahaira Arana, the images come to life in locations deeply woven into the community’s daily rhythm.
La Espiga del Oro, a neighborhood institution where locals gather for the best empanadas, and Mercado El Capullito, a hidden gem offering everything from fresh ceviche to meticulous tailoring.
By juxtaposing historical references to old family portraits with contemporary styling, Kevin Roman sought to bridge past and present, capturing the essence of Barranco as a place where tradition and modernity coexist. The collection, set against textured walls, sunlit passageways, and familiar neighborhood spots, reflects Studio Afuera’s ethos, design as a vessel for storytelling, cultural memory, and the intimate details that shape identity.
